Michael specializes in strategy, finance and environmental issues. Before co-founding A&W, he was a project manager for Socially Responsible Investment at Rabobank, a leading sustainability-focused financial institution. He previously worked for McKinsey & Co. and Morgan Stanley & Co., where he focused on the energy, finance, media and high tech/telecom industries. He holds an MBA (with distinction) from INSEAD and an MSc in economics from the University of Amsterdam. Michael speaks Dutch, French and German and is based in Amsterdam. |

Deborah Leipziger

Deborah focuses on supply chain strategy and sustainability standards. She is widely recognized as a leading expert in these fields, and lectures frequently on these topics. Before joining A&W, Deborah served as a corporate responsibility consultant, advising multinational companies, investment funds, and standard-setting bodies. She is the author of many books and articles in the field of corporate responsibility, including the Corporate Responsibility Code Book (Greenleaf, 2003; see Publications page). Deborah played a key role in the development of the standard Social Accountability 8000. Deborah holds an MPA from Columbia University and a BA (magna cum laude) in Economics and International Studies from Manhattanville College. Her native English and Portuguese are complemented by Spanish. Deborah is based in Boston. |

Professor Roome's focus is on high-level sustainability issues, trends and opportunities, as well as innovation in business. He holds the Chair in Sustainable Enterprise and Transformation at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and Daniel Janssen Chair of CSR at Solvay Business School, Free University of Brussels. Dr. Roome has advised companies, industry bodies, governments and the European Commission as well as NGOs world-wide on sustainability strategies and their implementation. He is widely published on a range of sustainability in business topics (see Publications page). Dr Roome was awarded the Faculty Pioneer Award in 2006 by the Aspen Institute. He serves as Chair of the Academic Board of EABIS. He holds a Ph.D. in Natural Resource Economics from Cambridge University and a BSc from the University of Surrey. He divides his time between Rotterdam and Brussels. |

Vernon Jennings focuses on sustainability strategy, accountability and stakeholder engagement, as well as business ethics. As a consultant to the Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk since 1990, he has helped shape the company's leading commitment and approach to sustainable development and helped implement its programs. Vernon previously served as Vice President Sustainability at Novo Nordisk. and as a Director of SustainAbility Ltd., the London-based consultancy. He has facilitated dialogue with a wide range of stakeholders for a wide variety of companies. He has a strong interest in sustainable agriculture and the food industry and helped Unilever get started on its sustainable agriculture and food programs. Vernon is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and Chairman of the Operating Board of AccountAbility. He has a first class honors degree in Plant Sciences and a Ph.D. in Microbiology and is based outside London.
